Closure for the family of Heath Ledger is starting to come closer to reality.

Toxicology results and an official coroner's report on the cause of the 28-year-old actor's death are due this week, just as the Brokeback Mountain star is laid to rest. His family touched down Tuesday in their native Perth, Australia, to begin final private funeral arrangements.

Father Kim, mother Sally and elder sister Kate arrived Down Under in the afternoon, local time. They were back home for the first time home since departing for the States immediately following Ledger's death Jan. 22.

Their solemn U.S. sojourn included a private viewing of the onetime Oscar nominee's body at a New York funeral home, an intimate ceremony in honor of the actor at a Los Angeles cemetery and finally another small, though star-studded, memorial, also in L.A.

Ledger's former fiancée, Michelle Williams, and two-year-old daughter Matilda attended the viewing and latter memorial, though there's no word whether the duo will make it to Perth for Ledger's interment.

Williams and the child were not on the same flight as the Ledger family, who had a brief layover in Brisbane before continuing on to their final destination. It's also unclear if the actor's body was transported on the same plane.

All told, about 20 family members made the trip to the U.S., and they were quickly escorted off the flight by heavy security, which guided them from the plane through the terminal and into a private elevator.

Once outside, a convoy of white cars shuttled the family away from the airport.

While the family has kept mum on final funeral arrangements, and Williams has urged privacy, reports out of Australia claim Ledger will be buried alongside two of his grandparents in a family plot at Perth's Karrakatta Cemetery this week.

The family earlier turned down an offer from Guilford Grammar School, where Ledger once studied, to host a memorial, citing a desire to keep proceedings as private as possible.

Meanwhile, the New York Chief Medical Examiner's Office announced Monday it was close to determining the cause of Ledger's death.

"We're expecting something in the next two days," said Ellen Borakove, the office's director of public affairs.

As for the exact time of death, which has been in dispute, with various theories floating that the actor could have been saved had the masseuse who found him initially phoned the paramedics rather than Mary-Kate Olsen, Borakove said that information would not be disclosed.

"We just give out the cause and manner of death. That's all that is public information. Not the time of death," she said.

Authorities have already stated there was no sign of foul play in the death and denied reports that illegal drugs were found in Ledger's rented SoHo apartment. Police have, however, confirmed that six types of prescription medications, among them sleeping and anxiety pills, were found in the apartment.
