Sherri Shepherd Cries Saying Goodbye on The View, Cracks Joke About Her Divorce—Watch Now!

Sherri Shepherd couldn't help but get emotional when saying her goodbyes Monday on The View.

After seven seasons as a co-host on the ABC talk show, the 47-year-old made her final appearance. This was also Jenny McCarthy's live episode as a co-host, although she said her goodbyes on Thursday, leaving Monday as a Sherri-centric show.

Sherri said she was "so extremely and profoundly grateful" for her experience with the show, calling it "the best seven years" of her life.

"I tell people, 'Step out of the fear,' because I didn't want to take this job, because I'm not a prosecutor, I don't know anything," she said. "I have to say my boss, Barbara Walters pushed me. I cried in my dressing room for three years saying, 'What am I doing on this table?'"

She recalled a pep talk from Whoopi Goldberg, who told her, "If Barbara didn't think you could do this, she wouldn't ask you to be here."

Sherri even cracked a joke at her own expense, saying, "When I started The View seven years ago, [son] Jeffrey was 2 years old, and I was going through a very public divorce [from Jeff Tarpley]. Now, my son is 9 years old, and I'm going through another very public divorce [with Lamar Sally]. It's a good thing Barbara Walters and [producer] Bill Geddie were better at picking co-hosts than i was at choosing my husbands!"

Ha! Well, Sherri also said she was "so grateful for the group of friends and family that I have made and that as supported me."

So what's next for Sherri? She's heading to Broadway, where she'll be playing Madame, the evil stepmother in Cinderella. As for The View? Whoopi will be returning to the table, joined by former co-host Rosie O'Donnell. They're still looking for a few new personalities to join in the conversation.
