Marvel really outdid themselves with this good deed!
Many comic book fans know Bill Mantlo as one of the men responsible for helping create the character, Rocket Raccoon for Marvel comics.
Unfortunately, Mantlo was hit by a car in 1992 leaving him in a comatose state. He was able to recover, but still suffered irreparable brain damage.
Now receiving full-time care in a health facility, the cartoonist isn't able to visit a movie theatre and experience his work on the big screen…until now!
Marvel helped bring the movie experience to him with a private screening of Guardians of the Galaxy.
"What an incredible day for Bill Mantlo," his brother, Michael Mantlo, shared on Facebook. "Bill thoroughly enjoyed it, giving it his HIGHEST COMPLIMENT (the BIG "THUMB'S UP!"), and when the credits rolled, his face was locked into the HUGEST SMILE I HAVE EVER SEEN HIM WEAR (along with one or two tears of joy)!"
He added, "This was the GREATEST DAY OF THE LAST 22 YEARS for me, our family, and most importantly, BILL MANTLO!"
It doesn't get better than that! Oh wait, yes it does.
Along with seeing his name in the ending credits, Mantlo reportedly received a donation from Marvel to help in his medical care.
Well done, Marvel! Find out how you can help in Mantlo's care by clicking here.
