Rick Perry Refuses Symbolic Handshake Pic, Sarah Palin Calls for Impeachment: This Isn't Barack Obama's Week So Far

Texas governor's office issues letter saying he'll meet with POTUS in private, saying " a quick handshake on the tarmac" won't solve the U.S.' immigration crisis

It's only Tuesday and President Barack Obama has already been on the receiving end of two cold Republican shoulders.

On Monday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry officially refused the White House's invitation to have the former GOP presidential candidate meet the commander in chief on the tarmac when he arrives in the Lone Star State this week to attend fundraisers in Austin and Dallas.

Which, of course, would have involved a genteel greeting and a hearty handshake.

"I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas," Perry wrote in a letter to Obama, per the American-Statesman.

"I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue. With the appropriate notice, I am willing to change my schedule to facilitate this request."

Change his schedule?

Anyway, moving on...

And today, another vocal non-fan of the president, Sarah Palin, wrote in a column published today on Breitbart.com that it's "time to impeach" Obama. Like Perry, Palin cited issues with current immigration policy as the reason for her latest diss.

"Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this," Palin wrote. "Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It's the only promise he has kept."

Moreover, not only should Obama be impeached, but "on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment," the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice-presidential candidate concluded. "The many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored. If after all this he's not impeachable, then no one is."

What, no mention of the crack the White House chef is putting in his pie, or the Chipotle sneeze guard breach?

Regardless, that ought to whip plenty of people into a frenzy, on both sides of the aisle, just in time for Obama's trip to Texas.
