The Bachelor and The Bachelorette alum Emily Maynard combined romantic, regal elegance with rustic charm at her surprise wedding to Tyler Johnson at his family's farm in North Carolina.
At the Saturday event, the blushing 28-year-old bride, and mother of an 8-year-old girl, wore a strapless white ball gown with a floral, pale pink-toned bodice and satin sash and wore her blonde hair in a gorgeous, tousled half-updo. And instead of squeezing her feet into uncomfortable pumps or sandals, she opted for cowboy boots—a known wedding trend, especially for rustic ceremonies and receptions.
And if you're going to go for a pink-toned gown, you may as well get the main dessert table to match—the couple chose a four-tier white wedding cake covered in cotton candy pink-colored fondant and elegant copper, jewel-like designs, topped with what appeared to two at least two dozen pink, peach and white roses.
Johnson, also 28, was photographed wearing a dark suit and white dress shirt with no tie. He and Maynard met in church and got engaged in January. The two had surprised most of their-200 guests by getting married when they did. They had sent family and friends invitations—in the form of a View-Master, which many may remember as an entertaining childhood toy—to what was dubbed an engagement party.
The night kicked off with the unsuspecting guests enjoying cocktails before the wedding planner and her staff all of a sudden started arranging chairs in such a way that an aisle started to emerge. Music started to play and the group quieted down pretty quickly, minus the gasps and tears as the guests realized what was happening.
Then the bride appeared on her father's arm and they walked down the aisle, followed by Emily's daughter, Ricki, who was her mom's maid of honor.
Emily and Tyler said their I-dos and then it was time to party. A live country band provided the music and the wedding party feasted on a delicious Southern spread that included fried chicken, shrimps, scalloped potatoes and pulled pork.
After the newlyweds' first dance, Tyler danced with Ricki, the bond between stepdad and stepdaughter very evident.
There were no speeches or toasts, a source tells E! News, but it was "just a very special, very fun night filled with love."
