Skier Lindsey Vonn recently revealed that she will not be competing in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi due to her unstable knee, but the blond beauty won't be dealing with her injury alone. Vonn shared a sweet photo of her new dog, Leo, on Twitter.
And guess what? He has knee problems, too!
"Leo brightened my day-adopted him from an animal shelter.Has a bum knee bc a car hit him #bumkneebuddies #puppylove," she wrote with the adorable photo.
She also introduced her new four-legged friend on Facebook, writing, "This definitely brightened my day-I adopted this 9 month old cutie from an animal shelter. He has a bad knee from being hit by a car when he was a puppy and no one wanted him...but I do!! I encourage anyone looking for an animal to adopt from a shelter and save a life! #bumkneebuddies."
Vonn announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 11 months after she underwent major knee surgery, that she won't be at the Winter Olympics.
"I am devastated to announce that I will not be able to compete in Sochi. I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level," she wrote on Facebook.
"I'm having surgery soon so that I can be ready for the World Championships at home in Vail next February. On a positive note, this means there will be an additional spot so that one of my teammates can go for gold. Thank you all so much for all of the love and support. I will be cheering for all of the Olympians and especially team USA!"
In February 2013, Vonn tore the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in her right knee and fractured her tibia after crashing in Schlamding, Austria. Nine months later, she partially tore one of the reconstructed ligaments in her knee after crashing a training run in Colorado.
