After her summer fling with Henry Cavill ended in mid-July, Kaley Cuoco wasn't sure if she'd ever find love again. Enter Ryan Sweeting, the tennis pro who swept the Big Bang Theory actress off her feet and proposed in September 2013 after three months of dating.
Cuoco opened up about her surprise engagement during a Thursday, Nov. 7, appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I am very, very happy," the 27-year-old TV star said. "Life is so good right now. I cannot even tell you!" She also admitted that her relationship with Sweeting is "newer" and acknowledged that her engagement looks "a little crazy to some people."
"I had kind of an interesting situation over the summer and I was kind of in a weird place and a very close mutual friend ours said, 'Oh my god, have you met this guy Ryan?'" she recalled. "I was just not in a good place to meet anyone. I said, 'I'm not ready. I'm taking time away from love for a while.' I was very sad. And they said, 'You know, he's coming to town. You've got one day to meet him, have a drink, and meet him.'"
Cuoco continued, "I was putting it off and really nervous about it and just not wanting to do this. And so they gave him my number and he texted me. He was like, 'I'm coming to L.A.' I'm like, 'Oh my god, so now I have to see this guy? Do I have to hang out with him all weekend? Is he going to be here for, like, days?'"
The California native agreed to have dinner with Sweeting. "We're still on our first date," she said of her Florida-based fiancé. "He never went home!"
Sweeting had come to L.A. to visit his doctor after suffering a back injury. "I kind of nursed him back to health," Cuoco said. "By day two I was like, ‘Oh my god.' It was so unbelievable. I said, 'This is it, this is it.'"
