In a perfect world, Clint Eastwood and his second wife, Dina, would work things out.

Alas, that didn't happen, and now E! News confirms the star of E!'s Mrs. Eastwood & Company has officially filed for legal separation citing irreconcilable differences—two weeks after reports surfaced indicating the couple had split after 17 years of marriage.

Per a petition filed Monday in Monterey County Superior Court in Northern California and obtained by E! News, Dina, 48, is asking for spousal support and physical custody of the duo's 16-year-old daughter, Morgan, while sharing joint legal custody and visitation rights for Clint.

Court docs also note that the former TV news anchor and film legend have a premarital agreement.

Neither Dina's attorney, C. Michael McClure, nor a rep for Eastwood could be reached for comment.

However, McClure did confirm to Reuters that he filed the petition, though he refused to signal whether Dina would eventually seek a divorce.

A source previously told E! News that the pair had been living apart for some time.

After news of their marital problems broke, the brunette beauty took to Twitter to defend Clint's character, calling him a "wonderful, good natured, brilliant person."

The comments may have been in response to her fans mulling the identity of the mystery blonde whom the 83-year-old Eastwood was spotted dropping off at LAX in the wake of their separation, sparking rumors that the veteran actor-director had already found a new ladylove.

Clint and Dina married in 1996 and had Morgan 9 months later.
