Kelly Clarkson and Cyndi Lauper aren't the only stars horrified by Miley Cyrus' provocative performance at the VMAs. During an Aug. 26 interview on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Sherri Shepherd condemned the polarizing pop star's racy TV appearance.

"Oh, she's going to hell in a twerking hand basket," the View cohost, 46, said of Cyrus, 20. After demonstrating her own twerking skills, Shepherd added, "When I was growing up, that wasn't called 'twerking.' That was called a ho move."

Shepherd's comments are similar to those made by Clarkson. The original American Idol winner previously slammed Cyrus' "We Can't Stop/Blurred Lines" medley, tweeting on August 26, "Just saw a couple performances from the VMA's last night. 2 words…. #pitchystrippers."

Similarly, Lauper told an Australian radio station that the former Hannah Montana star was "basically simulating a Girls Gone Wild video onstage" in an effort to "prove she can hang with the big boys and girls."

"I just felt like that was so beneath her and raunchy, really raunchy," Lauper added. "It wasn't even art."

James Van Der Beek also mocked Cyrus' out-there performance, tweeting on August 26, "Things I learned watching the #VMAs2013: There's nothing you can do with a foam finger that you can't air on MTV." The former Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 also dissed Cyrus' performance partner Robin Thicke, writing, "Things I learned watching the #VMAs2013: If the goal is to not look creepy onstage w/ an underage twerker, a striped suit is not your friend."

Other celebs who have lambasted Cyrus' stage show include Brooke Shields, Jaime King, Bill Maher, Lisa Rinna and Judd Apatow.

Cyrus has yet to address the controversy directly, though she did brag that her VMA performance set a record-breaking "306,000 tweets per minute." She also tweeted several quotes from a Rolling Stone review: "Miley was the one star in the room who truly understood what the MTV Video Music Awards are all about...Miley stole the night, which is why the nation is still in recovery today. Thanks, Miley."
