Has Mad Men just lost its top man?!
The AMC hit closed out its 6th season with one doozy of an ending: Someone was fired from Sterling, Cooper & Partners! And not just any ol' someone: Don Draper (Jon Hamm) was asked to take a leave of absence from the firm by the partners. Ouch! Yes, it seems like Don's drunken antics and general awfulness have finally caught up with him.
But Don's firing wasn't the only major development to go down in "In Care Of"...
Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) and Ted (Kevin Rahm) slept together...only for him to chicken out and decide to stay with his wife and children. Hey, at least we got this epic line from Peggy: "Well aren't you lucky to have decisions." Boom. Ted decided to head to the new Los Angeles office to put as much distance as possible between him and Peggy by episode's end.
As for poor Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka), she was suspended from boarding school for drinking. Ruh-roh, it seems like Don's worst attribute might've been passed on to our favorite TV daughter. But really, can you blame her when she has parents like Don and Betty (January Jones)? At least Sally and Don ended the season on somewhat solid ground after he brought her to the whorehouse he grew up in.
Not ending the season on a good note with Don? Wife Megan (Jessica Paré), who finally had it with her husband when he backed out of moving to California with her. "You want to be alone with your liquor and your ex-wife and your screwed up kids," she accused, later dropping an F-bomb, which was bleeped out. But still, an F-bomb was dropped on TV!
Scene of the Night: Don's pitch to Hershey, which saw the ad salesman, who is so good at living and spinning a lie, finally drop the facade. It was hard to watch, but oh-so captivating.
Line of the Night: "Not good, Bob!" Oh Pete (Vincent Kartheiser), you may not have had the best time in the finale, being dropped from the Chevy campaign, but at least you got the best line!
