Looks like Olympic athletes won't be competing for just any bling this Winter.

The International Olympic Committee met in St. Petersburg, Russia today to unveil the new medals for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympic games, which will be held in Sochi.

The new neckwear features a unique patchwork quilt design to represent the various cultures and regions of Russia. They were created to depict the diverse landscape of the host country through a prism of mountains and beaches.

A record 1,300 medals are being manufactured for next year's games.

When presenting the new design, Russian Olympic skating champ Svetlana Zhurova emphasized the importance of medals for athletes in their performance.
