When God closes a door, he opens a window. And when Fox airs a finale (last night's Terminator), it premieres another drama: New Amsterdam, which bows tonight at 9 p.m. (Don't worry; the comparisons between the Almighty and The Moment of Truth net stop there.)
New Amsterdam is the story of an immortal New York City cop with a lot of local history. The premise—that only true love can lift the crimefighter's curse of immortality—is a little, um, far-fetched, but it's a likable, appealing show, not the least because star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is, himself, very likable and appealing. (By the way, if you don't get to it tonight, episode two airs Thursday at 9 p.m.)
