Tim Tebow is moving on.

Yes, early Monday morning, the Jets released the hunky 25-year-old backup quarterback, just 13 months after signing him onto the team.

"We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow," coach Rex Ryan said in a statement. "Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward."

Many wondered about Tebow's future with the Jets after Geno Smith was picked in the second round of the NFL draft last week. (Mark Sanchez, the team's primary quarterback, remains on the roster and will compete with Smith for the top job.)

Prior to his brief stint with the Jets, Tebow played for the Denver Broncos. No word yet on what's next for the Christian athlete, but something tells us he'll be just fine wherever he ends up.
