It just must be too scary to face Mel G in court.

Her estranged husband apparently isn't up to it.

Jimmy Gulzar has agreed to accept Scary Spice's 1.25 million pound (about 2 million greenbacks) deal to end their marriage, London's Daily Mail reports.

The reputed settlement--750,000 pounds in cash and a London flat worth 500,000 pounds--is a far cry from the 10 million pounds (about $15 million) it was believed Gulzar had been demanding.

The Mail says Gulzar, 31, accepted the package after a lawyer told him it was in his best interest. When considering divorce settlements, English law takes into account the length of the marriage. Gulzar and his Spice bride were only hitched for a rocky 16 months.

Additionally, the paper reports that Mel G, 24, will retain custody of the couple's 10-month-old daughter, Phoenix Chi.

So far, there's no official comment from either party on the supposed deal. A Spice Girl rep says the Scary One is currently kicking back on a Thai beach and hasn't seen any settlement.

The former Melanie Brown met Gulzar, a Dutch-born exotic dancer, on the Spice Girls' 1998 world tour, in which he performed. They married in September 1998.

Earlier this month, a little over a year after swapping vows, they called it quits--purportedly after a New Year's Day blowup. They issued a statement saying: "Mel and Jimmy have confirmed that they are to separate. The couple has arrived at this conclusion after a considerable amount of discussions and attempts to make the relationship work.

"They intend to remain good friends."
