There must be a song in this.

The Wedding star Halle Berry and A Day in the Life singer Eric Benét are engaged.

Entertainment Tonight first reported the news, which was confirmed by Benét's record company, Warner Bros. No date has been set yet for the wedding.

Berry, who has been outspoken about her disappointment over a failed, and purportedly abusive, marriage to baseball star David Justice (now with the Cleveland Indians), is hoping to hit a home run with Benet.

No macho jock type this time around for Berry. Retro-soul singer Benét is a sensitive guy who says that when he was creating his latest album he re-read pages of his diary and "just opened myself up to whatever came out of my heart."

Berry's divorce from Justice was finalized in 1997. Since then the 31-year-old former beauty queen's career has blossomed. She landed major roles in Oprah Winfrey's TV production of The Wedding and earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of the doomed title star in HBO's Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. (She met Benét at the telepic's premiere.)

Berry also received critical praise for more than just her good looks when she played opposite Warren Beatty in the political satire Bulworth.

Benét has never been married, but has a child from a prior relationship. The Milwaukee-born musician formed the band Benet, with his sister Lisa and cousin George Nash, Jr., in the early 1990s, but a debut album was overlooked. It wasn't until his 1996 album True to Myself, with songs influenced by R&B, gospel and hip-hop, that he found success with his heady heartfelt music.

Now he's found Halle, whom he, reportedly, proposed to back in August.
