Ashley Judd "Thanks" Karl Rove for Political Attack Ad

It looks like Ashley Judd is getting a taste of the rough-and-tumble world of politics.

While she's yet to announce if she'll challenge Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell for his seat in her native Kentucky in 2014, the 44-year-old Hollywood star and political activist seems to like the fact that a group is already running an attack ad warning of her candidacy.

"Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn't been made yet," her publicist said in a statement to E! News on Judd's behalf.

Ashley Judd has become a fixture on the Tennessee political scene in recent years

The spot, dubbed "American Crossroads Presents: Ashley's Story," attempts to paint the actress as being out of touch with the concerns of Kentuckians and as a devoted follower of President Barack Obama.

"You know what this country needs? An independent voice…for Obama," intones a male voice over. "Her own grandmother says she's a Hollywood liberal, but isn't that what we need? Ashley Judd, an Obama-following, radical Hollywood liberal who's right at home here in Tennessee…I mean Kentucky."

The ad was produced by American Crossroads, a SuperPac started by Rove, the political consultant, Fox News contributor and former chief of staff under President George W. Bush.

Ashley Judd and husband Dario Franchitti break up

While Judd has a residence in Tennessee, she grew up in Kentucky and went to college in the state. And as an active member of the Democratic Party, she's dropped some serious hints in recent days that she's looking to get into the race there against McConnell.

"The people of Kentucky need a fighter," the thesp told Louisville's Courier-Journal newspaper last month. "And certainly going back 10 generations, I've got some fighters from those hills in my family."

No word yet when Judd—who just separated from her husband of 11 years, IndyCar racer Dario Franchitti—will reveal her decision.
