Pregnant Kim Kardashian: "I Don't Want to Be Married to Kris Humphries When I Have the Baby"

Kim Kardashian wants her legal battle with Kris Humphries to be over by the time she gives birth to her and Kanye West's child in July.

Or, if not entirely over, then she at least wants to be legally single.

The pregnant star's camp filed a motion last month requesting that either a trial date be set as soon as possible or for a judge to grant her a divorce not reliant upon the financial disagreements still pending between her and Humphries, whom she was married to for 72 days in 2011.

Humphries' attorney filed a motion to block Kardashian's request yesterday, claiming she was trying to rush the process by using her pregnancy as an excuse, but what did the E! star actually have to say with regard to her impending arrival?

"I do not want to be married to [Humphries] when I have my baby," Kardashian stated in a declaration in support of her motion to set the case for trial or bifurcate her marital status, filed Jan. 24 in L.A. Superior Court.

"Immediately upon it becoming known to the public that I was pregnant...I began to see articles in the media with quotes attributed to [Humphries] stating that now that I am pregnant he has 'got all the power,' 'that he is in control of my misery' and that he is not going 'to allow' me to be divorced by the time I have my baby," she continued in the filing.

"I am requesting the status of my marriage be determined now for not only my health and welfare but also for the health and well-being of my unborn child," Kardashian stated.

Her declaration continued: "I firmly believe that an immediate dissolution of our marriage will help create a new, full life for me. One chapter will be officially over, and a new one can begin. The same should hold true for [Humphries]."

A trial-setting conference is scheduled for Feb. 15. In last month's filing, Kardashian's attorney, Laura Wasser, quoted Humphries' attorney as having said during a previous status conference that he would "have some big-time explaining to do if I'm not ready to get a trial date by Feb. 15."

"Respondent does have some 'big-time explaining to do' as Petitioner fully expects Respondent at the [Feb. 15 conference] to once again claim he is not ready to go to trial," Wasser concluded.

She also stated in the filing that Kardashian has made herself available for deposition numerous times but that Humphries' team hasn't made time to depose her until May 20, arguing that Humphries should be there but is not available until at least that date, due to his NBA schedule.

Kardashian and Humphries "agree that their date of separation is Oct. 31, 2011," Wasser wrote. "The six-month waiting period has long since elapsed...Respondent has had more than adequate opportunity to prepare his 'fraud' claim for trial. Indeed, there is nothing to prepare since there is not a shred of evidence to support the alleged fraud."
