Christian Slater's road to respectability continues.

Two years after a drug-fueled meltdown that resulted in a jail stint, the actor is planning to formally settle down with the mother of his newborn son. A Valentine's Day 2000 wedding is planned, his rep says.

Slater, who turns 30 in August, and Ryan Haddon, 28, a television executive, have been an item since last summer. She gave birth to Slater scion Jaden Christopher last April 6. None other than the proud papa cut the cord.

Though the couple is setting its sights on a V-Day nuptials, Slater's spokesman says the actual event could occur a day or two before and/or after, depending on their schedules.

It'll be the first marriage for both.

It was in August 1997 at a Los Angeles high-rise party that Slater's personal life seemingly bottomed out. The Very Bad Things star, wasted on coke and booze, punched his then-girlfriend (not Haddon), bit a man and wrestled with police. A rehab stint, a plea bargain and a 90-day jail sentence followed. Slater's self-imposed odyssey finally ended in March 1998, when he got sprung early from the slammer for good behavior.

Since then, the onetime bad boy has stuck to the acting thing. Last fall, he earned solid reviews for his Broadway debut in the play, Side Man.

The stork, meanwhile, may be about to visit another Hollywood couple--Billy Baldwin and Chynna Phillips. The Backdraft star, 36, and the ex-Wilson Phillips popster, 31, reportedly are expecting their first child, today's New York Daily News says. Reps for both celebs could neither confirm nor deny the item.

Baldwin and Phillips married in 1995.
