The Skinny on Calista Flockhart

Ally McBeal star says she's no anorexic--she was just "born with tiny bones"

It's Thursday morning. Do you know what Calista Flockhart is eating for breakfast?

The same as she eats on Wednesday: Oatmeal, with a banana, honey, egg whites, spinach and yogurt.

We're sorry to report we don't know if Ms. Flockhart combines said ingredients into one big bowl. Although considering the cross-purposes of spinach and yogurt, we're kinda hoping not.

Perhaps if people keep bugging the Ally McBeal star about her weight she'll let us know exactly how she eats--maybe even when she eats.

For now, we'll have to content ourselves with what she eats.

In the November 9 issue of People, the embattled actress, dogged by anorexia rumors of late, dishes on her diet, her "tiny bones"--and denies being "too" skinny.

"Am I anorexic? I guess my answer would have to be no," she tells the mag.

"I was born with tiny bones."

For the record, Flockhart says she is 5-foot-5 and weighs 102 pounds. She eats what she wants, when she wants. Her dress size is 2.

But it's not right to hate a person over stuff like that, is it?

In any case, the People interview--coming just weeks after Flockhart signed on with Hollywood PR queen Pat Kingsley--is designed to end the media feeding frenzy over her reputed lack of one. Rumors that Flockhart was going Karen Carpenter reached a zenith October 2 when a TV station erroneously reported Flockhart had checked into the hospital for treatment of an eating disorder.

"I don't have a messed up relationship with food," she insists, in the magazine.

But if fans equally insist that there's less of Flockhart on their screens this season, then she's willing to concede that she's maybe lost three to five pounds in the last year--due to long work days and lack of junk food.

"I'm not saying people aren't seeing what they're seeing," she says. "If I did, it would indicate I'm nuts. I'm just saying it's normal weight fluctuation."

Flockhart, in fact, says she not only eats breakfast each day--but lunch and dinner, too!

Here's the rest of the Ally star's daily regimen: Lunch: Chicken or fish; "a" chocolate-chip cookie. Dinner: Chicken, pasta or sushi. In a sort-of related development, a friend of Katharine Hepburn reports to today's New York Post that the 91-year-old screen legend also eats daily. (Food--everybody's doing it!)

Here's a sample of Ms. Hepburn's daily eating routine, according to the paper:

Breakfast: 10:30 a.m. Lunch: 1 p.m. Snacks (unspecified): 4 p.m. Dinner: 6 p.m.

Says Kate's pal: "She has a marvelous appetite."

No word on the size of her bones.
