CNN talker says, "I do," then prepares for heart procedure

Larry King, eternal optimist...

The CNN talk-show host and USA Today ellipsis-crazed columnist wed for a seventh time Friday...The bride: Shawn Southwick. She's a singer. (Been married twice before, too...Everybody's doing it!)

Now, serious stuff...King, 63, and Southwick, 37, were supposed to walk down the aisle Saturday. But King's due in a New York hospital Monday for a last-minute, artery-clearing angioplasty procedure, so the date got pushed up...The chummy gab-meister has battled heart problems for the past decade, suffering a heart attack in 1987 and undergoing bypass surgery that same year. (Do you remember?...The medical scare inspired the former Larry Zeiger to pen the 1989 tome, Mr. King, You're Having a Heart Attack...Good read!)

King spokeswoman Maggie Simpson says doctors expect the host to make a "full and prompt recovery."

You ever notice good news comes in threes?...A promising prognosis, a new bride, and, hey, something to look forward to: a wedding reception. Simpson says the happy couple will probably get around to celebrating their union with friends in mid-October...Somebody's gotta say it: RSVPs are not only tried-and-true party custom, they're polite, too!...

Irony's a funny thing...Larry King's best known for lobbing softball questions at the likes of Ross Perot, but his true milieu seems to be affairs of the heart (and altar)...Talk about expert: His track record, dating back to 1953, includes seven weddings, six brides (he wed No. 2, former Playboy bunny Alene Akins, twice, making her No. 3, as well), five divorces and one annulment...Experts have a term for it: Serial monogamy...Experts, you'll find, have a name for everything...

King and Southwick announced their engagement last May...Time flies...It'd been eight years since his last marriage (five years since his last divorce)...Itchin' to get back in the saddle: The guy with the trademark suspenders had seen two previous engagements blow up in his face this decade. He announced plans to wed minister Rama Fox in 1992. By 1995, they'd split (never having said "I do") and gotten litigious. Ouch...He also failed to officially win the hand of actress Deanna Lund. Their 1995 engagement fizzled...Just a thought: Doesn't anybody stay together anymore?...

King and Southwick wed in Los Angeles...Happy ending!...Right?...
