Tiny Tim--the ukulele-toting, falsetto-warbling '60s icon--is in serious but stable condition after suffering a heart attack at a music festival Saturday. His manager says the singer is in good spirits and will be strumming again soon.

"Tiny's doing fine and he will be back. It won't be long," said Gil Morse. "He would like to say 'God bless' to all his fans. Their response has been tremendous. The phone doesn't stop ringing."

Tim had just climbed up on stage at the Uke Expo in Montague, Massachusetts, Saturday night and introduced his band, when he fell on his face.

The crowd of 135 was stunned, and many broke out in tears, said John Petrovato, owner of the bookstore where the concert was held. When his body was wheeled into an ambulance, "people on the lawn started cheering for him and saying, 'Hold on Tiny Tim,' " Petrovato said.

Tim, whose age has been reported somewhere between 64 and 74, was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in the intensive care unit.

Born Herbert Khaury, Tim performed vaudeville tunes in obscurity as Larry Love and Darry Dover. But it was as Tiny Tim that he shot to fame in the late '60s. His signature tune, "Tip-Toe Thru' the Tulips with Me," went platinum. His marriage to Miss Vicki (Budinger) on the Tonight Show in 1969 was a genuine event--more than 40 million viewers tuned in.

But like his fame, the marriage didn't last. "Someone once called me the world's most famous has-been," His Tininess told People magazine earlier this year. "[But] the most shocking things in my life were the broken hearts I've suffered." Miss Vicki took their daughter Miss Tulip and split in 1977. He dumped his second wife, Miss Jan (Alweiss), when he met his current wife, Miss Sue (Gardner).

Despite the hard times, the high-pitched troubadour has been making a comeback of sorts. He's recorded a couple of albums for some small record labels and has been playing the cruise ship and coffeehouse circuit.
