Sherman Hemsley's time had come. Simple as that, according to El Paso Medical Examiner's Office.

After initially announcing that determining the cause of The Jeffersons star's death would require an autopsy, the coroner reversed course today and said none was needed.

Instead, Hemsley's death will be classifed as due to natural causes based on his medical history. However, there are no specifics yet on what health conditions the 74-year-old TV icon suffered.

Authorities responded to an emergency call at the actor's Texas home early Tuesday morning, and Hemsley was pronounced dead upon their arrival. Upon initial investigation, police confirmed that there was no sign of any foul play.

A detailed report on the cause of the veteran actor's death is expected in a few days.
