Jake Owen's pre-wedding weekend wasn't exactly smooth sailing.
The 30-year-old country singer's Cinco de Mayo celebrations got a little out of hand, and he was detained but not arrested Saturday by police in Vero Beach, Fla.
The Indian River County Sheriff's Department explained that as Owen was "joking around" with family and friends through a restaurant's window while wearing a mask, a deputy told him not to enter (there is a law against entering a business with a mask on). Owen did so anyway and was initially handcuffed. However, everything was straightened out and no arrest was made. His rep tells E! News it was "a big misunderstanding."
But that didn't stop Owen from going through with his wedding plans! His rep confirms to E! News that at sunrise on Monday, he said "I do" to model Lacey Buchanan.
"A best friend for life. I now have a wifey :)" he tweeted after the beachside ceremony.
"My face hurts from smiling," Owen added. "What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life."
Owen proposed to Buchanan, a 22-year-old model, onstage at a benefit concert in April, but he forgot one key engagement element: the ring.
"You're probably wondering where your ring is, right?" Owen asked, before breaking out into song. "I just said I can't buy you a big diamond ring or a big old house on the hill, but I promise you I'll love you forever and ever and ever," he crooned. (The lyrics are from his hit song "Don't Think I Can't Love You.")
Romantically enough, Owen's proposal was an impromptu decision. "When I was onstage, it just hit me how many of our family members and friends were at the show," he said. "So I thought sharing that moment would mean a lot to everyone.
How sweet! And, we can tell from a wedding pic Owen tweeted, that Buchanan got a sparkler after all.
