Twitter's been upping the star power lately! Within the last two months, the mircoblogging mainstay has lured high-wattage holdouts like Steve Carell and Beyoncé.

The latest purported addition? Betty White, who, under the handle @BettyMWhite, blasted out this maiden tweet yesterday: "Hello Twitter! And they said it would never happen. Oh wait, that was me."

But earlier today, White's Hot in Cleveland costar Valerie Bertinelli tweeted, "Just spoke with Betty and she is VERY upset! @BettyMWhite is NOT her. Don't know how they got verified, but it is not Betty. Please RT!"

White's rep tells E! News, "The Twitter account @BettyMWhite is Betty's official Twitter page," and adds, "There was a misunderstanding."

Indeed, even Bertinelli has backtracked: "It's all a misunderstanding…@BettyMWhite IS Betty's twitter account! Now follow me back, bitch! ;-)" she posted.

C'mon, how could this not be White's account? Shortly after joining Twitter, the star—who's now racked up over 145,000 followers—engaged in some racy flirtation with Ryan Seacrest, tweeting: "Hey @RyanSeacrest - my new show airs tomorrow and I hear we're in the same time slot. I've always dreamed of sharing a night with you..."
