Where in the world in Matt Lauer? Looks like he'll be at Rockefeller Plaza for quite a while.

Although Lauer won't make the official announcement until tomorrow, NBC News confirms that the Today cohost has signed a long-term deal with the show.

"Matt is the franchise, and our franchise player has decided to keep leading our team," Steve Capus, President of NBC News, told The New York Times.

"Matt always said he would only continue if he could be all-in," he said. "The all-in factor was really key. This is demanding job with a demanding schedule. For him it was a question of lifestyle. As his family is getting older he wants to be able to spend more time with them."

"We're just thrilled to have his considerable skills for many more years," Capus said.

After Meredith Vieira announced her departure last April, there was speculation that Lauer would be next in line to leave Today even though his contract didn't end until December 2012.

Luckily, that's not an issue anymore.
