Ready or not, it's time to go back to Titanic.
The stars of the 1997 blockbuster were in London last night for the world premiere of Titanic 3-D, director James Cameron's technologically enhanced version of his record-breaking, 11-time Academy Award-winning masterpiece. (Not coincidentally at all, next month will mark the 100th anniversary of the real sinking of the RMS Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean on its way from England to New York City.)
So, Tuesday's premiere at Royal Albert Hall was kind of a big deal. But not big enough a deal for Leonardo DiCaprio? The heartthrob of the high seas was conspicuously absent as costars Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Frances Fisher and Bill Paxton walked the red carpet.
Where was the King of the World last night?!
Well, we certainly hope that DiCaprio hasn't forgotten the sinking ship that rocketed him to superstardom.
Either way, the 37-year-old actor was stuck on set in Louisiana shooting Quentin Tarantino's latest, the antebellum drama Django Unchained. The massive cast also features Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington and Kurt Russell.
But he was missed in London!
"They became brother and sister," Cameron told E! News, recalling his leading man and lady on the set more than 15 years ago. "I think of them as Kate and Leo, and I think of Jack and Rose as two people who exist separately. I think it's almost more so that way now—Jack and Rose are now the eternal young lovers. I think they have to deal with that as well."
DiCaprio was onboard with the project, Cameron said.
"I actually showed Leo 18 minutes of the 3-D version right before Christmas," the deep-sea-diving director said. "He was sort of crawling under the seat, saying, 'Who is that guy?!'
And how did the now-36-year-old Winslet react to seeing the younger version of herself onscreen—and in 3-D, no less?
"I think I look better 15 years later," the Oscar-winning mother of two told us. "I like the way I'm aging, it's nice. I don't have any secrets, I just try to have a positive attitude."
Trust us, Kate, your beauty has gone on and on.
