Bill O'Reilly is certainly not one to pull any punches.

During Monday's broadcast of his Fox News show, The O'Reilly Factor, the conservative commentator inserted himself into the Whitney Houston death story.

So, what did he have to say?

"Whitney Houston wanted to kill herself," insisted O'Reilly after bringing up the late singer's past history with substance abuse.

"Nobody takes drugs for that long if they want to stay on the planet," he said, adding: "She follows in the footsteps of Elvis [Presley], Janis Joplin, Michael Jackson and scores of other entertainment figures. The hard truth is that some people will always want to destroy themselves, and there's nothing society can do about it."

But O'Reilly also pointed out that it wasn't just Houston who is to blame here. He went on to criticize the doctor who prescribed her medication, saying the person "had to know she was a drug addict. Everybody knew that."

O'Reilly concluded, however, by calling what happened to Houston as "awful" and revealed that he did say a prayer for her the night before.
