Hills Girls Are Crying, but We Can't Seem to Care

Lauren and Audrina are still doing the friend-fight thing, but we're not as into it as we used to be

Lauren and Audrina cried it out last night over their failing friendship. It ended with Audrina’s “Well, OK then, let’s do it” which came across more as “Ugh, I give in, stop crying already.”

And this morning Audrina spewed some Lo-hate on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM show with a surprisingly diplomatic: “I mean I don’t not like her, but I don’t like her.”

The thing is, we’re having trouble finding a reason to care about the Hills girls anymore, which is weird because just a few months ago, they were all we could think about. Is this just the natural ebb and flow of pop culture, is MTV just not bringing it this season, or is it more about simple overexposure?

We're still not sure—in fact, maybe some of you are still totally into the show—but at least a couple of problems are clear:

1. Stop With the Friend Drama: We’re so sick of everyone clamoring to be friends with Lauren or being chastised for not being good enough friends to her. It’s true that Lauren would probably be a cool friend to have—she could get you into all the best L.A. clubs and maybe she’d even share some of her free clothes—but it just doesn't seem worth the constant attention she requires and may be why Audrina wants out. Having friends really isn't supposed to be that much work.

2. The Speidi Storyline Is Completely Ridiculous, Even for Them: Their only issue is having a sister crash on the couch? That's just the way life goes when you have a couch in L.A., no biggie. We would prefer to see Spence and Heids doing their real jobs—like staging photo ops and making awful music videos. Most of the time we’re wondering how they find any time in their busy self-promoting lives to squeeze in something as meaningless as a Hills shoot.

Ah, yes, you may be wondering why we would write about something we don't care about anymore. Well, we want to care again. The Hills used to be a major part of our lives, and something feels like it's missing ever since it stopped being relevant. We hope it gets interesting again, but if not, at least we have DogTown.

In the meantime, any other Hills fans out there feeling let down with this season? Or do you have any suggestions on how to fill the hole in our heart? You know where to let us know.
