Demi Lovato is indeed moving forward with her life.

While the 18-year-old star has certainly dealt with more than her fair share of challenges lately, she's clearly coming back stronger than ever.

"As the world knows, I kind of went through a bunch this last year," Lovato said today while paying our very own  Ryan Seacrest a visit, referring to a recent stint in a treatment facility to deal with her bipolar and eating disorders.

In recalling the issues she faced, Lovato admitted that "it got to the point where I was lying to everyone, lying about eating and being happy...I became a little brat and I had so much growing up to do, and I never intentionally meant to be that way, but I just had so much going on in my head."

Thankfully, though, Lovato got the help that she needed and, as a result, has a much brighter outlook on life.

"I try to create positive energy everywhere I go," she said after Seacrest commented on her "big smile" and "the happiness" that surrounds her.

And Lovato's ability to work through it all is refective in the heartfelt lyrics of her new song, "Skyscraper."

"It's about rising above those issues," she pointed out. "That it's going to be OK. No matter how hard your rock bottom is, you can rise above it and you can come back."

While the song itself was released today, the video for the new single will actually be making its broadcast debut exclusively on E! News and E! Online on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
