We like how the pop star approached talking about her salvia incident

You know we love us some Miley Cyrus, bong, tattoos and all! She's usually a gossip columnists dream, but must admit, we dig her even more right now.

Miley briefly touched on her salvia incident, and her "little bit of a bad trip," in the new Marie Claire. And unlike a lot of her peers, she didn't make excuses for her behavior.

But are there other things Cyrus should apologize for?

"I'm not perfect...I made a mistake...I'm disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans," M.C tells the magazine.

The interviewer then follows up with this question, which totally could have given Miley an out:

"But do you really think it was a mistake? Obviously college kids your age all over America are smoking bongs with a lot more than salvia in them."

"They're not Miley Cyrus," the pop star replies. "They're not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for."

Bravo, girlfriend!

We think most girls her age (she did just turn 18) would completely fall back on that. And the fact her parents were in the middle of splitting, which she also doesn't use as an excuse in the article.

But another habit that Cyrus seems to have picked up is smoking cigarettes.

Miley was spotted before her 18th birthday chain-smoking away, and it doesn't look like she's stopped.

Is that OK because it's legal? Or because she hasn't been caught red-handed?

Obviously we don't encourage her fans to pick up the filthy habit, but it could be worse. Actually, many of her Disney peers are doing much worse.

So here are some props Ms. Cyrus to how you handled the bong incident. Do you all agree?
