Celebs have beauty emergencies just like the rest of us—hot lights, humidity and holding a smile for hordes of photographers can lead to one wilted leading lady.

But they have to get really efficient when packing a party clutch for the red carpet. With very little room to spare (it's form over function when it comes to the tiny glitzy bags they love to carry) only the essentials make the must-pack list.

So take a tip from Hollywood the next time you're headed to a cocktail mixer by bringing a few of these space-saving tools of the trade:

Blotting paper takes care of oily skin and help keep your makeup stay put for the long haul. But if you forget your sheets, use (clean!) toilet seat covers—they're the same material as most blot papers.

Pack a lipstick, stain or gloss that can pull double duty by perking up your mouth and also adding a little healthy flush of color to your cheeks. And if you can, trade your plain lip balm for one that's mint flavored so you get the added benefit of nice breath.

A comb and a couple of bobby pins can rescue a drooping hairstyle—tease a little lift back into your look—and the pins can also come in handy as a temporary fix for falling hems or wayward bra straps.

Finally, a cotton swab dipped in perfume and then stored in a little plastic baggie lets you reapply your scent once its worn off without having to carry an entire bottle of fragrance with you all night.
