I love waking up and checking my Blackberry in the morning. The world can change forever while you're asleep. You never know what kind of information, good or bad, will be sent to you overnight.

Today I woke up and received an email from a friend at Fox saying the studio was announcing James Cameron's plans for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. To quote the famous sportscaster Marv Albert, "Yes!"

Fox said that Cameron will begin writing the scripts next year, with hopes of commencing production in 2011 as well. The studio has targeted December 2014 to release Avatar 2, and December 2015 for Avatar 3. It hasn't been decided if Cameron will film both movies at the same time, like previous franchises Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I know there are a lot of Avatar haters out there, but personally I loved the film. I saw it in the theaters three times: First at the World Premiere in London, then by myself on opening day in Miami and again with Transformers star Tyrese Gibson and a group of friends in Century City. It's no secret I love stories told on a grand canvas, and what bigger stage is there than the world of Pandora?

Not like James Cameron needs advice from me, but I just hope he is able to keep the same sense of wonder and discovery that helped define the original. Now that we are familiar with the Na'vi people, with the 3D technology, etc...I hope he can continue to surprise us and enlighten audiences around the world.

What do you guys think? Are you as excited for the Avatar sequels as I am?
