There's so much here that works for fall: leopard print is a classic. I like to think of it as a neutral that works well with black, red, camel pieces and, of course, jeans!
Christian Louboutin's Lady Derby ankle boot is perfect with skinny jeans or a black pencil skirt. Or a skinny leopard belt, like this one from J.Crew, is a très chic way to get the trend worn over a dress or cardigan.
A leopard clutch is a great way to make an all-black evening look pop—Aldo has a big selection of leopard bags, like the Viney clutch. And a leopard cardigan is fab statement piece or perfect for layering.
If you truly want to embrace the trend...
A leopard coat will do the trick. This Miu Miu coat is beyond fabulous, but I just found one for $9.99 from Lucky Brand!! And Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli always have something leopard in their collections, so there's no reason for die-hard fans to worry about ever losing their spots.
A classic cape for fall is the perfect transitional item for your wardrobe into the colder months. Everyone from Stella McCartney, 3.1. Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Missoni, Etro, Fendi and Gap got in on the trend.
As for styling, it's best to keep your bottom half simple and sleek so the contrast will balance out your silhouette. Skinny pants or a pencil skirt are ideal, but you can also sport a wide-leg trouser or jean if you want to get a leg up on spring's ‘70s trend.
Curvy girls need belted styles with structure, petite figures are better in fitted jacket capes and taller gals are best in thigh-length capes. Just avoid a wide-brimmed felt hat or you'll look too costumey—or worse, like Jenny from the Block.
And the best part about the current cape trend? Having your own superchic Snuggie with you at all times...minus the sofa, potato chips and looking silly!
