EW.com is reporting that 9-year old newcomer Mackenzie Foy and her cherub face is thisclose to being cast as Renesmee Cullen in the final installment of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
Don't start thinking about the logistics of the intense birth scene just yet. Let's meet Mackenzie first...
Well, we know she's adorable and could easily pass for Edward and Bella's beautiful child. (Look at those eyes!) Breaking Dawn will be her first movie, having only appeared in one episode each of 'Til Death and FlashForward. She's also done commercial work for Blackberry, TGI Fridays, and Burger King. Of course, this role will surely be the one that makes her a household name, if it isn't already since the casting news exploded on the interwebs.
For those of you who haven't read the series, the character of Renesmee is a pivotal role in the second half of the book Breaking Dawn. Not only is she the daughter of Edward and Bella, her existence is cause for much turmoil and conflict in the vampire world. Basically, tiny Mackenzie might possibly be taking on one of the biggest roles in the series. There has been no confirmation from the studio regarding her casting, so we're all still speculating. And speculate we shall!
One of the special things about Renesmee is her super quick aging ability. It'll be interesting to see how director Bill Condon tackles this, or if he'll use special effects at all in favor of casting children of different ages. But it would appear that Mackenzie, who turns 10 in November, will be the main actress playing the young human/vampire.
The first installment of Breaking Dawn arrives in theaters on November 18, 2011 and the second opens on November 16, 2012.
