Kevin Spacey is about to get schooled.

The Oscar-winning actor has accepted a position as visiting theater professor at Oxford University, succeeding Patrick Stewart when the prestigious institution's new academic term kicks off in October.

As part of his yearlong tenure as the Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theater at Oxford's St. Catherine's College, Spacey will be required to give at least one lecture, one workshop or one seminar per term.

Preferably not on how to count cards.

"It really is an honor for me to have been invited to follow such illustrious names and take up this role at Oxford," the 21 star-turned-academic said. "The university is steeped in tradition and has a great heritage in the arts, and I look forward to working with the students and staff."

In addition to Stewart, previous appointees of the position include Stephen Sondheim, Tim Rice and Diana Rigg.

Along with his gig at the 800-year-old university, Spacey will maintain his one-man British invasion by continuing to serve as artistic director of London's Old Vic Theatre Company.
