We're not sure which step in the courting process demands you call your beloved "dirty laundry" or requires you to publicly berate your future mother-in-law, but hey—all's fair in love and war and these two crazy kids are ready to go the distance. Um, again.
Let's kill two birds with one stone, shall we:
"We got engaged two weeks ago," the 19-year-old Bristol told Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don't have the approval of our parents."
Apparently the duo started down the road to reconnection three months ago when they began hashing out a custody plan for their 18-month-old son, Tripp.
"I really thought we were over," the 20-year-old Levi told the magazine. "So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just starting talking—and then we took Tripp for a walk."
No funny business occurred that night, but a change was apparently in the air.
"When he left that night, we didn't hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again'…I was in shock."
As for mama Palin—well, even when she's had a kind word to say about Levi, it still hasn't been all that kind.
"It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board."
Well, the fact that the kids told the tabloid press before breaking the news to mama should help the pill go down a little smoother, right?
Yeah, not so much.
Sarah and Todd Palin released the following statement that was read out on the Today show this morning:
"Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what's best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives."
