Jennifer Lopez works the actress angle—but does it work?

Of all her many (and we do mean many) career endeavors, being a diva seems to be the job best suited for good old Jenny from the Block.

Boo hoo for the Bronx babe, though—having a killer fashion sense and a lethal dose of 'tude doesn't come with a paycheck, damn. So it seems Jennifer Lopez needs a backup career to pay for all that bling.

But what job should she rock?

Lately, J.L. has been having trouble getting her music back off the ground—you know, where it landed when she fell on her notoriously ripe ass at the American Music Awards—but what about that acting gig? Is thespian the right role for J.Lo?

Looks like it—on the red carpet, at least.

The muy caliente mama turned up the heat in Miami as she strutted her always glamorous tush down the carpet before a screening of her new flick The Back-Up Plan.

So she's got the movie star walk, but can she talk the actress talk?

Consider us conflicted when it comes to Jennifer's acting chops. Sure, the multitalented Mrs. Anthony shows obvious potential, more so in her older flicks and less buzzed about films (Ever heard of Bordertown? Probably not, but J to the L-O was quite good in the pseudo-thriller).

Then what the heck is the problem? Her movie choices, to start with. La Diva has never met a dimwitted rom-com that she didn't like.

Hey, we'll admit it, we didn't exactly hate Maid in Manhattan, but crap like Jersey Girl and the infamously horrid Gigli aren't helping the Razzie winner get roles these days.

And, we hate to say it, but The Back-Up Plan doesn't inspire the greatest of faith in us. From the looks of the trailer, Jenny L. seems to be trying too hard at slapstick comedy in a Baby Mama knockoff.

Can't wait to see Alex O'Loughlin, though, must say.
