For most stars, a fall-winter trim may just be par for the course this time of year. But for the 18-year-old singer to cut her locks, this is a game-changer. That's because she may be just as recognized for her chart topping hits as her voluminous, spiraling locks. So the fact that she's not only chopped a good half-foot of hair off and straightened her hair is definitely cause for notice.
Stepping out at the 12th annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in New York City last night, Lorde showed off her fresh trim with a half-up-half-down hairstyle, accentuating her dark hair color with extra sheen. From what we can tell, this is the first time the "Royals" singer has significantly trimmed her tresses since shooting into the spotlight in 2013, and it's certainly one of the glossiest hairstyles she's sported on the red carpet yet.
Again, this look may not be worthy of a major jaw drop, but seeing as the singer has pretty much never strayed from her famous lengthy curls, it's big. And overall, we're digging the star's new medium-length 'do.
