It's official, Fast and Furious fans!
Universal Studios announced earlier today that Furious 8 is a go! The eighth installment of the franchise even has a release date: Apr. 14, 2017.
Before Universal made the exciting announcement, hopeful fans generated their own movie poster for Furious 8 in the hopes that it sould get made. The pic features Vin Diesel's image over the Empire State Building in New York City.
No word yet on the official cast roster for the new flick, but we hope franchise favorites like Diesel, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson will all we back.
The announcement of another sequel isn't a huge shock given the major success of the latest Fast and Furious movie. Furious 7 has reportedly grossed a whopping $300 million domestically!
Earlier this month, Ludacris opened up to E! News about the possibility of an eighth installment.
"There have been talks about a sequel but nothing has been confirmed in terms of Furious 8, but I really feel like we need to let the fans decide whether there's going to be a Furious 8 and we'll work it from there," he revealed. "Right now we kind of need a moment of silence to reflect on this individual who started the franchise. So rest in peace, Paul Walker."
(Universal Studios and E! are both part of the NBCUniversal family)
