The Mindy Project has been given new life on Fox.

The network has ordered six additional episodes to the third season, which was originally only 15 episodes. That brings the total to 21 episodes. The two previous seasons of The Mindy Project clocked in at 24 and 22 episode each.

The series, created by Mindy Kaling, has struggled in the ratings during its entire three-season run. While low, the ratings are stable and the half-hour comedy does even better when DVR viewing is factored in. The most recent episode on Tuesday, Nov. 11 had 2.5 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. According to Fox, the show is averaging 3.1 million viewers this year and a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. We're excited to get more Mindy and her warrior name Beyoncé Pad Thai.

Kaling stars as Dr. Mindy Lahiri. Her character finally got together with Chris Messina's Dr. Danny Castellano at the end of the second season. Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant, Ed Weeks, Xosha Roquemore and Adam Pally also star.  This season has featured Cheers veteran Rhea Perlman as Danny's mom in a recurring role with additional guest stars Niecy Nash (Getting On), Rob McElhenney (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Allison Tolman (Fargo).

We exclusively reported that Pushing Daisies and Guardians of the Galaxy star Lee Pace is set to guest star as the former college nerd-current tech-millionaire who took Mindy's virginity.

Coming up this season we'll see Mindy take a big trip. "We just pitched it to the network that we're going to be going somewhere after Christmas, and there's a really great roster of people that she meets there," Kaling told E! News. "I like those episodes of like Lost where the character goes to a new place, or like The Walking Dead, where we meet like six new weirdoes. And you kind of fall in love with them."

The Mindy Project airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on Fox.
