We sure wouldn't mind sloshing around in a swamp with Matt Passmore.
Who is that, you ask? Let us introduce you.
Passmore is the Australian hunkster and former underwear model who stars as Jim Longworth in The Glades, A&E's newly minted hit Sunday-night series about a Chicago detective who moves to a sleepy—but kooky—Florida town.
Here are five things you gotta know about Hollywood's latest import from Down Under...
Nice Arms: Playing with guns in The Glades isn't new for Passmore. Before the acting bug bit, he served in the Australian army. He also prepped for the new series by shadowing L.A. and Florida detectives. "I kind of enveloped myself in homicide," he told us the other day during a break from shooting.
Talk This Way: Losing his Oz accent wasn't too difficult because he grew up watching American television and movies. "The American accent was something that always just came quite naturally to me," Passmore said. "I didn't have to work too hard on it."
Later, Gator: They shoot on location in the Florida Everglades around Fort Lauderdale. "When we shot the pilot, two alligators moved in the morning we were supposed to shoot, so the wranglers had to get in and move them out," he said. "Whenever anything moves by my leg I still kind of think of myself as a piece of chicken."
Bottoms Up: That's Passmore's own naked ass you saw in the first episode when Jim is examined for a bullet wound to his buttocks. "I don't think I could ask anyone to be my butt double," he said. "My mom would know straight away and she'd bag me out for it."
Nice Package: Passmore actually started showing skin early in his career. Wanna see? Take a look at this Underdaks underwear commercial he did back in the day. Nice bod, Matty!
