Kristin Cavallari's Missing Brother Michael ''Has Been Getting Into Trouble for a Long Time''

New information concerning Kristin Cavallari's brother has surfaced.

A source tells E! News that Michael Cavallari, who was reported missing on Nov. 23, has been dealing with some troubles prior to his disappearance. "Sadly, Kristin's brother has been getting into trouble for a long time. There's always been a lot of drama around him," the insider says.

According to the source, Michael was living in Chicago several years ago but "it didn't work out. So he was sent back to California." As we previously reported, Michael was arrested days before his disappearance, on Nov. 23, in Dana Point, Calif., and his 2014 Honda Civic was found abandoned five days later on I-70 in Utah.

The source adds that Michael's relationship with Kristin was like any other little brother-big sister. "She's always been protective of him and tried to help him however she could," the insider shares, and notes that reports claiming Michael was driving out to see his sister at the time of his disappearance is not true. "No one knows what he was doing."

Given the circumstances, Kristin, who recently welcomed her third child with Jay Cutler, is understandably worried and trying to find answers. And until that happens, she's not going to speak further on the event.

"As of now, Kristin is not going to talk or give another statement until they have a better idea of what's going on," the source tells E!News. "If they knew something, it would be different. But right now, they still don't know. The family is in constant touch. It's been stressful. Especially for Kristin, who is caring for two young kids and a newborn. She's not a Hollywood mom, she doesn't have a lot of help. This has been tough on her."

The mother of three did post an old photograph of herself and her younger brother on Instagram and wrote, "I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family. We remain hopeful and I will share any news that we receive. I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support."
