In a perfect world, Andrew Koenig would just be beamed back to his family.

Sadly, the search for the Growing Pains actor continues and his former Star Trek-starring father is forced to open up about his 41-year-old son who's been missing for more than a week.

"It's very, very tough," Walter Koenig tells the Today show. "He was very depressed about his life."

His mother, Judy Levitt Koenig, hopes that the public's heartwarming concern brings him home.

"He is much loved and beloved in this world and I just hope he gets that feeling," she says.

The family, including Andrew's sister Danielle who spoke to E! News yesterday, is doing everything they can to stay positive about his current state, praying he's not injured or worse.

"I don't want to think that way," Walter says. "I'm trying very hard not to think that way."

The erstwhile Pavel Chekov continues to urge anyone and everyone with information about Andrew to contact the authorities.
