Texas Has the Jonas Brothers Feeling Neighborly
The Jonas Brothers apparently figured that they literally needed an area the size of Texas to accommodate their massive fan base.
Local news outlets are awash with reports that the dreamy tween-friendly trio have corralled themselves a six-bedroom house in Vaquero, a gated community in the northern Texas town of Westlake.
Tarrant County records show that the Jonas sibs inked papers June 12 giving their mother, Denise Jonas, power of attorney to close the deal, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The real estate agent who listed the residence for more than $2.8 million would only confirm that the house had been sold.
The band's rep has refused to comment on their new living arrangements, but even the rumors—not to mention the recent Joe/Nick/Kevin sightings in the area—are generating plenty of excitement.
HSM Fans Don't Get in the Picture
Guess not too many people are planning to stay for the end credits of High School Musical 3.
High School Musical: Get in the Picture, the new ABC reality show that promises to cast its winner in a music video to play during HSM3's aforementioned crawl, failed its first—and second—ratings tests.
Sunday's inaugural episode placed 69th in Nielsen Media Research's latest weekly rankings. It finished fourth, or last, in its time slot behind nonstellar broadcast competition led by CBS' Big Brother (33rd place, 5.7 million). Its 4 million viewers were more fitting for an umpteenth HSM rerun on Disney Channel than a broadcast premiere.
Sting, Matthews, Mayer Gamer for Tibet Than Beijing
Just in time for China's moment in the spotlight, some of the biggest voices in showbiz are taking another stand on behalf of Tibet.
Sting, John Mayer and Dave Matthews are among the rockers lending their musicianship to Songs for Tibet, an all-star album intended to draw more attention to the Asian province's ongoing struggle for national sovereignty.
The album, which will also feature tunes by Alanis Morissette, Moby and Garbage, will have a global release on iTunes Aug. 5, three days before the 2008 Summer Olympics get underway in Beijing. Hard copies will hit stores Aug. 12.
"We wanted to express our support for the Tibetan people and their message of peace through music, a fundamental means of expression, at a time when the eyes of the world are on China," said the Art of Peace Foundation's Michael Wohl, whose Dalai Lama-supporting nonprofit is behind the CD project.
Paps Busted for Loitering Near Casa Spears
Even if you're standing where there's only the possibility of a fire, you can still get burned.
Two paparazzi on Britney Spears watch were arrested Monday after ignoring a police warning about being illegally parked on a city-owned fire access road near the pop star's Studio City home.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers spotted Alexander Passos and Eduardo Ravalha, both 35, parked in a restricted area at about 6 p.m.
They were arrested about 45 minutes later when, upon returning to the site, the cops found that the gentlemen had neglected their suggestion to get their shutterbug jollies elsewhere.

Joss Whedon: Welcome to the New Dollhouse
As all Buffy, Angel and Firefly fans know, when Joss Whedon gets it right, he gets it very, very right. And if he gets it wrong—he'd rather us not know it.
The writer-producer confirmed on his Whedonesque website today (via a faux Q&A with "Rutherford D. Actualperson") that he is reshooting the pilot for his upcoming Fox series Dollhouse after both he and some network execs—who picked up the Eliza Dushku-starring sci-fi drama earlier this year based on concept alone—became concerned that his intended opener didn't make a whole lot of sense.
"What’s that, you say? A second first? How can such a thing be? Does it defy the laws of all physics?" the show runner blogged.
"I said [the pilot] was grand, I didn’t say it was comprehensible. I showed some scenes to David Lynch and he’s all, 'whuh?' Bad sign. But I kid," assured Whedon.

Mourning Golden Girl Getty; Emmy Winner Dead at 84
Estelle Getty was a very good mother.
The actress, whose knack for being cast as a maternal unit paid off handsomely when she was cast as Beatrice Arthur's no-holds-barred mother on the long-running TV hit The Golden Girls, died early today at her Los Angeles home, her son Carl Gettleman said.
Getty, who was three days shy of her 85th birthday, succumbed to Lewy Body Dementia, a disease with symptoms that mimic Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
A perennial award nominee for The Golden Girls, which ran for seven seasons, from 1985 to 1992, Getty won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her work as Sophia Petrillo, the shuffling octogenarian with the muted self-censor button who was never without her handbag—or a wisecrack.
Arthur said today she will miss her former costar.
Natalie Portman Must Be in Love
Well, here's one way to get people talking about what would have been an otherwise obscure music video.
Singer Devendra Banhart, better known as Natalie Portman's boyfriend, begged asked the Oscar-nominated actress to play a princess in the Bollywood-inspired video for his song "Carmensita."
Quirky and fun, or simply embarrassing? Take a look, and let us know what you think.
