Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow and Maggie Gyllenhaal get the geek hearts aflutter as they pose on the cover of USA Weekend's summer movie preview. Despite the fact that each is starring in an upcoming film based on a comic book—The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and The Dark Knight, respectively—you will probably never run into one of them pawing through X-Men back issues at the local comics store.

When asked if there were any superpowers they wish they had, they don't say superhuman strength. Or rays that shoot out of their eyes. Or the proportional strength of a spider. (Tyler, to her credit, does reveal she'd like to breathe underwater like Aquaman.)

Rather, they worry about the moral ramifications of X-ray vision. "There is an ethical line you don't want to cross," says Paltrow, who has clearly never been disappointed by a faulty pair of X-ray Specs.

"It seems a little dirty," says Gyllenhaal. “I’d get in too much trouble if I could read minds or become invisible or see through people’s clothes.”

Well, sure, but that's why they call them superpowers.
