Roger Ebert is on the mend at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital after having surgery to repair a minor hip injury suffered in a fall in Florida.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning critic, who has been absent from Ebert & Roeper for the better part of a year while undergoing cancer treatment, had been squeezing in some extra physical therapy at the Pritikin Center to prepare for his upcoming annual film fest April 23-27 at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
"The show must go on!" Ebert said in a statement on the Chicago Sun-Times website. "I am doing fine and if the doctors clear me, I will be there to welcome our guests."
Artistic types slated to appear next week include Ang Lee, Christine Lahti, Rufus Sewell and Richard Roeper.
