Our cavalcade of stars you'll love on new fall TV series continues today with the definition of debonair: The Mentalist's Simon Baker. Press play above to see his take on the series and then click in to find out my take on his appeal...

E! Networks/Comcast Entertainment Group

Who He Is: He's Simon Baker, and while he's never been a marquee name, he's been working steadily (and sexily) in film and television for years, including a long stint on CBS' The Guardian, and small but memorable appearances in The Devil Wears Prada and L.A. Confidential. Part of Hollywood's Australian mafia, Baker was born in Tasmania and moved to the States in 1992, where he travels in circles that include old family friend Nicole Kidman.

Where to Meet Him: Simon is the star of CBS' intriguing new crime drama The Mentalist, where he plays a former TV psychic who now uses his observational powers for good instead of evil, working to take down murderous masterminds, including a serial killer who preyed on his own family.

Why You'll Love Him: Simon's character, Patrick Jane, is sexy, snarky and brooding—the very picture of a modern leading man. He's got chemistry with the rest of the ensemble, but he also gives his character the perfect degree of emotional distance necessary for someone so simultaneously sensitive and cynical.

Now set your reminder at right for the premiere of The Mentalist, Tues., Sept. 23 on CBS. See you there!
