A little less than two months after Kelsey Grammer suffered a heart attack in Hawaii, the veteran actor admitted himself into a New York hospital for an irregular heartbeat.

The actor was in town to promote his new film, Swing Vote, when "he felt a little faint, so he checked himself into the hospital," the actor's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, tells E! News.

Rosenfield added that it was likely Grammer's medication, which he has been taking since his June heart attack, that was to blame.

"Doctors felt a medication adjustment was necessary, so they are keeping him there for a day or so just to monitor."

As a result of his unexpected hospital stay, the 53-year-old Emmy winner will likely skip several planned TV appearances. He was originally scheduled to guest on Late Night With Conan O'Brien tonight and Live With Regis and Kelly tomorrow.

The hospitalization comes just days after Grammer was talking up his recovery.

"I think things are going to be fine. I'm doing fine," he told reporters last week while making the promotional rounds for his film.

Asked if his lifestyle had changed in the wake of the health scare, he said, "Oh, not a ton. Just watch your diet a little bit, take some pills."

And despite initial insistence that the heart attack was a "mild" one, Grammer said it nearly killed him.

"My heart stopped," he told Entertainment Tonight. "We originally said it was just a mild heart attack, and it actually wasn't very mild. They had to blast me twice and get me started all over again."
