Tonight is the night fans have been waiting for, when four fine fellas—Alan Ritchson's Aquaman, Lee Thompson Young's Cyborg, Justin Hartley's Green Arrow and Kyle Gallner's Impulse (a version of the Flash)—join forces with Tom Welling's Superman to take on bad old LutherCorp and help their friends.
In honor of this supermomentous TV event, we cornered four of the superfriends and grilled them about set secrets, life in a supersuit and general comic-book geekery! Read on for their responses, and then post in the comments about what you want to see in upcoming episodes of Smallville!
If you could make out with one superhero, who would it be?
Alan Ritchson (Aquaman): I'd have to say Jessica Alba's character (Invisible Woman) in Fantastic Four.
Lee Thompson Young (Cyborg): Wonder Woman. I mean, she is a goddess.
Justin Hartley (Green Arrow): Cat Woman—think of Halle Berry in tight black leather.
Kyle Gallner (Impulse): If I could make out with any superhero I would have to say it would be Milla Jovovich from The Fifth Element. She's not really a comic-book superhero, but she's a hero in the movie, so I am going to cheat a little bit.
What's the geekiest piece of comic-book trivia you know?
A.R.: T'Challa, the king of Wakanda, is also known as the Black Panther. I'm lying—I had to look that up!
L.T.Y.: Wolverine's a Canadian.
J.H.: Green Arrow was the mayor of Star City, which is supposed to represent Los Angeles.
K.G.: The geekiest piece of comic-book trivia I know is…I have no idea! I don't think I know enough trivia to answer that.
What are the best and worst things about being on Smallville?
A.R.: The best thing about being on Smallville for me is the opportunity to do what I love for a living, and it's one of the most fun jobs, with an awesome cast and crew.
L.T.Y.: The best thing is probably the cast. Everyone on the show is cool to hang around and a blast to work with. The worst thing is probably the weather in Vancouver. One time I was up there, it rained every day for a month!
J.H.: Playing two characters (Oliver Green and Green Arrow) is the best thing, and being away from my family when I'm filming in Vancouver is the hardest part of the job for me.
K.G.: The best thing about working on Smallville is the fact that I get to play a superhero. How many people can say that they have done that in their lives?! The worst thing about working on the show is that I always want to go back! It's such a fun show to work on that when I leave I am bummed out and want to do it again.
What's coming up for your character?
A.R.: If I told you I'd have to convince you to get underwater with me and then blast you with a super energy ball.
L.T.Y.: Something cool, I hope!
J.H.: My character, Green Arrow, is involved in the forming of the Justice League, an elite special-forces team of superheroes.
K.G.: Well, in this episode my character is a little bit different than the last time we saw him. He is a little more mature and isn't as lost. He now has a purpose. He has something he's a part of, and he's proud of that. He still gets into trouble, though!
Tell us a deep, dark secret.
A.R.: When I was eight, I gave my older brother a bloody nose for shoving ice in my ear during a snowball fight!
L.T.Y.: Well, if I told you that, it wouldn't be a deep, dark secret, now would it?
J.H.: Michael Rosenbaum is the antithesis of Lex Luthor.
K.G.: It's not really a deep, dark secret, but I hate to fly.
