The California desert is gonna get hot this weekend.

And we aren’t just talking about the expected 100-degree heat, because that’s pretty hot already.

The ninth annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival kicks off today in Indio, Calif. This year, Prince will headline Saturday night, with good-vibey Jack Johnson capping tonight's performances and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters taking the top slot Sunday.

The fest features more than 125 acts, including the Raconteurs, Death Cab for Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Justice, Portishead, M.I.A., Kraftwerk and many more.

Fans can get updated info at the website as well as catch live webcasts at the AT&T blue room.

Friday’s highlights include the reunited Breeders, hot young things Vampire Weekend, the Oscar-winning Once composers Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová (who perform as the Swell Season), party starter Fatboy Slim, electronic genius Aphex Twin, eclectic romantics Goldfrapp and soulsters Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings.

Saturday’s variety of terrific acts include Mick Jones of the Clash’s new band Carbon/Silicon, Mexican rockers Café Tacuba, DJ/producer Mark Ronson, L.A. popsters Rilo Kiley, critical faves Animal Collective, British singer Kate Nash and dance demons Hot Chip.

Sunday’s reasons to stand in the heat include popsters Stars, the reunited Love and Rockets, dance maniacs Justice, electro funksters Chromeo, rockers Black Mountain, singer-songwriter Sia, psychedelically inspired Spiritualized and Welsh soul singer Duffy.
